This was it. The finale. One last glance before she stepped through the curtain assured her she looked amazing. Hair slicked back. Kohl rimmed eyes. Fishnet stockings. Black Flamenco dress with yellow and charcoal feathers. And this neckpiece. Glowing lemon ovals with stormy droplets and long tassel nestled in her decolletage. As she stepped forward, the curtain rose to thunderous applause.....

What more can I say about this neckpiece. It has both a modern and vintage appeal. It is one of the sexiest neckpieces I have made to date--and I've made a few. There is something so sensual about unabashedly feminine jewelry. The act of putting it on is enough to change one's mood.

Magnificent, faceted, lemon quartz ovals of the highest quality have been used. Blackened, fine silver wire has been twisted and shaped to resemble a branch on one side, lending it a fey quality. Droplets of lemon quartz and chatoyant dove grey moonstone resemble flower petals. Opposite, lemon quartz ovals are interspersed with more droplets. And, at the center of this magnificence, an appx. 4 3/8 inch long tassel of lemon quartz ovals accented by the same droplets of lemon quartz and grey moonstone drapes elegantly down the decolletage. A floral clasp adds interest at the nape. Whether worn during the performance of a lifetime or out on the town, this neckpiece is sure to garner attention.

Labradorite, Labradorite, Where Have You Been?

*UPDATE*

I've been notified by my supplier that she can no longer get Labradorite of this size and quality. It seems the mines are no longer producing large enough rough to fashion into these AAA focals.

That said, since this is one of my favorite pieces, I decided to keep this one for myself, LOL. (Sorry if you've had your eye on it.) However, when I purchased this focal over a year ago, something told me to purchase more than one, and I did just that.

If you would like Labradorite, Labradorite for your very own, I can custom make one for you. This one, I'm sorry to say, is staying with me. :-)

What a multi-functional piece. I designed this neckpiece to go with many different styles of attire. It would look great, long, lean and simply worn, with an Eileen Fisher type tunic. Or, worn in Summer with the new style maxi/patio dresses. Just beautiful. It can also be worn doubled, like a choker, when the accompanying shortener is used. But, my favorite way to wear it is as a lariat, doubled and looped through itself.

But, I digress. Let's begin with the chain. Oodles of darkened, fine silver is looped about blue flash moonstone and labradorite rondelles to a length of 37" and terminates at an 18x30mm glorious labradorite focal drop of exceptional quality. This drop is a brilliant example of this stone: rich, deep grey body with iridescent flashes of deepest blue/purple. To see it is to be mesmerized. This is an heirloom worthy piece, destined to become a treasured part of your jewelry wardrobe. Enjoy.

Red Aventurine and Jasper Necklace

Here is a mixed-media necklace comprised of red aventurine (dyed), tiger iron jasper and ribbon. I love making (and wearing) very distinctive and multifaceted jewelry. It always lifts the spirit when someone compliments you. And it makes you feel special knowing you are the only person who has that particular piece.

A double strand of red aventurine smooth beads, appx. 8.5mm drape beautifully at front. Ending with gold-filled findings, the closure is a double length of chocolate brown satin ribbon. For continuity, I strung the beads on brown silk, hand-knotted between each bead. Great adjustability allows this piece to go from 18 inches to 40 inches.

An impressively sized tiger iron jasper pendant on a vermeil (gold over silver) bail complements the piece. At appx. 1-3/8 inch wide and 1-1/2 inch long, this unusually patterned stone is sure to command attention. Gold-filled wire is used to connect it to the bail. The pendant can be removed and worn with other necklaces you own, giving you many other options.

Carved Conch Bead Necklace

Organic and individual is how I describe this necklace. The material I've used is very unusual: Carved Conch beads. Conch is a gastropod mollusk, a very large snail found in tropical waters. Historically, conch has been used to carve cameos--chances are if you've seen a handcarved cameo with peachy/pink tones from Italy, you've seen conch shell. It is quite lovely and considered a semi-precious material.

After carving the cameo, these skilled craftsman take what remains and carve weighty, organic beads from them. The texture is as smooth as silk and the color, creamy ivory with swirls of peachy-pink throughout. Gorgeous.

I've strung the beads on silk and hand-knotted between each bead. Soft as butter lamb leather that I've hand cut and doubled is used as the closure and also adds to the adjustability of this piece. Length can be worn from appx. 18.5 inches to 40 inches. The ties are attached to the necklace with sterling silver findings.

This is a very distinctive, unusual and gorgeous necklace, sure to garner lots of compliments.

Beribboned Pearl Necklace

Here we have a very feminine and pretty pearl necklace comprised of creamy white freshwater baroque pearls in the 6.25mm to 7mm range. I've strung the pearls on silk and hand-knotted them between each pearl. The necklace length is appx. 19.75 inches and closes with a black satin or white satin ribbon. I designed this so that you can easily remove the ribbon and replace it with a different color ribbon depending on your mood or outfit. Wear the bow at the shoulder, side or back, you choose. I've also included a sterling silver clasp to wear at the nape so that you can go without a bow if you choose and keep the look simple. Shifting sands. Luscious silks. Gleaming gems. The air is redolent with spice, incense and a hint of languor. Reminiscent of arabian nights, this neckpiece alludes to the exotic...the mysterious...the sensual.

From the very beginning, this neckpiece guided me through its creation. I began with clear, blazing, faceted green amethyst nuggets. Their beauty demanded an unusual design. Each fabulous green amethyst is linked by 14k gold-filled wire, ending at the nape with a vermeil toggle. A teardrop, hand shaped and wrapped not once, but twice, with oodles of 14k gold-filled wire is the focal point. Wee dangles of multi-coloured tourmaline briolettes and pearls sit in a froth at the bottom of the teardrop, ready to sway with your every movement. Tourmaline rondelles are asymmetrically wrapped at the apex for continuity.
