Well this past weekend, was my first art show of the season. Overall the day went fairly well and I had plenty of sales.
I said it overall went well. We were very late due to rain and construction. I also realized that I had forgotten a few things (table risers, sign, etc), but we made the most of the day. The sun came out and there were a ton of people downtown Burlington. I had a lot of people interested in my glass beads and beaded hood earrings. It's always fun to connect with your customers.
The day was going along smoothly (once we finally settled in) and the weather was beautiful. So we thought. Without any warning, the clouds rolled in and the rain and wind came. I'm not talking rain, I'm talking torrential downpour and tornado strength winds. We quickly put up the extra wall and secured the canopy, and all was good. Yes the tables, cash register, any paper product, and myself were completely drenched, but nothing fell down or blew away. And the best part, my canopy made it through the storm; no leaking or breaking! We had a lot better luck then some of the booths around us. They were not so lucky :( Hopefully this won't deter them from attending shows in the future.
But as quickly as the storm moved in, it was over. We dried off everything, took down some of the displays (just in case the storm came back) and kept on selling. So the day was a pretty good success. And except for the rain, a pretty good start to the show season!
