Cherry Twist Necklace

Cherry Twist is a an airy spin of red, pink, and crystal gyrating from a large cherry quartz faceted briolette pendant. This necklace has fabulous sparkle and shimmer. the technique is an openwork variation Ruth's Twist, a spiraling coil that is especially strong at its core.

Incredibly romantic, especially when worn with the matching earrings. This goes out to dinner or out for the day and fits right in. It also works as the perfect accompaniment for a colorful wedding piece.

Please be aware that cherry quartz is a man made stone and is not found in nature, although its properties are exactly that of natural quartz.

"Cherry Twist" is fastened with a bead and loop clasp using two beads in order to be adjustable between 16.75 inches (42.5 cm) and 16.25 inches 41.3 cm). The larger bead is a vintage faceted crystal while the smaller is a transparent druk.

Midnight Peacock Dangle Earrings

From the Czech Republic come these rick dark fire polished faceted crystal beads in midnight blue. They are accented by Swarovski made Peacock bicones, Bali silver daisy spacers and fancy Bali silver headpins and a touch of wrapped wire.

The findings are Argentium sterling silver SlipLess French earwires. Argentium is a relatively recent new sterling alloy using the element germanium in place of copper. This inhibits tarnishing and reduces reactivity between metal and skin for those who are often too metal seneitive.

Green Pearl and Amethyst Crystal Dangle Earrings

Green and purple is a color combination with many aficianados. There are, however, many tints of green and purple and not all of them are as stunning as this. The smooth glossy finish of the glass pearl is well balanced by the crist sparkle of the Swarovski made amethyst colored crystal bicones. The look is finished by the addition of the Bali silver daisy spacers and the use of ornate Bali silver headpins. Look for the delicate swirl of silver wrapping around the pearls. Such a sophisitcated and pretty look in one small pair of dangle earrings!

Marquise Faceted Citrine in Circular Bead Netting Earrings

This is another in my line of circular bead netting with gemstone dangle earrings. This has a pair of lovey citrines faceted in the Marquise cut. I used fine Delica seed beads in bronze and golden yellow. One of the citrines has a slight imperfection that cannot be seen from the front, but this does make the stone less than perfect.

Wear these with reds, greens and warm neutral colors for the best effect. Or, if you are especially daring, try them with black or dark blue and purple.

The findings are Slipless French earwires in sterling silver and are both secure and comfortable to wear. The drape is approximately 1.25 inches (3.2 cm) n length. These earrings come wrapped in colorful tissue and ensconced in a silver satin gift pouch.

Pink can be passionate and romantic, as these earrings demonstrate. The pink faux pearls are made by Swarovski, renowned for their work with glass and crystal. They also made the crystal bicones several decades ago in the no longer used "volcano" finish. Very colorful and with a more striking flash than the aurora borealis effect. For the most polished finish to this design, I used Bali silver daisy spacers and fancy Bali silver headpins.

Wire Wrapped Vintage Crystal Barrel Earrings

These are among the most unusual old beads that I have ever seen. They are lead crystal octagonal barrels with an iridescent mirror finish on four of the panels. I believe they might be vintage Swarovski. I have only a few and I've used two of them to make these earrings. These are elegant and shiny and the perfect accent for many neutral colors such as taupe, grey, or black to give you three examples. To get the most sophisticated look I used very fancy Bali silver headpins and Bali silver daisy spacers and then added a volano finished Swarovski bicone to each earring. ( I believe the barrels' finish might also be volcano.)

Ruby red, golden yellow, sumptuous orange and a hint of purple are the epitome of Autumn's colors. This fabulous combination is perfect for the variation of Ruth's Twist weave I used to create this elegant bead weaving necklace. It is smooth to the touch and lays lightly around the neck. The pale citrine briolette adds an element of interest that catches the eye. The closure is a secure loop and bead using a vintagw Swarovski faceted red crystal with an aurora borealis finish.

Volcano

Rich ruby red spills effortlessly like lava from an active volcano; thus giving this nec piece its name. This is one of my favorite works; three rows of open worked right angle weave with a mathematically perfect fringe. And if the red is lava then the sparkling silver lined crystal and the shimmering silver lined gold are the sparks and lightening accompanying the storm of beauty. The fastening is a bead and loop clasp using a dark translucent lampwork venetian style red bead.

Chomp! Bead Woven Necklace

People love stories and jokes. Chomp! is both of those and wearable sculpture as well! Once upon a time there was an ocean sized lake on a planet in the distant past. After a long time, algae formed and other simple plants. Then came fish which ate the plants and then other critters which ate the fish and then came larger and larger and more complex creatures... But in the end, it is still the simple plant based life forms that finish off the animals - no matter how complex.

Chomp! shows this food chain, a small part of the food web, as it happens. The necklace is created from both vintage (60+ year old seed beads) and contemporary seed beads and both vintage and contemporary Swarovski and Czech crystal beads. Thousands of tiny beads were not harmed in the making of this neck piece using techniques of Russian Peyote, Brickstitch and circular Brickstitch.

The clasp is a bead and loop that fastens off center in front. Length is approximately 24 inches / 61 cm. The necklace is woven to form a natural curve.

Autumn Goddess Bead Woven Necklace Netting and Russian Peyote

The Autumn Goddess represents of season from Summer's verdant leaves to the oranges that many maples sport. The evenings arrive sooner showing off rich purples as the sun sets.

This is a large work of wearable sculpture with lots of bead netting, a centerpiece of Russian Peyote and a dangling polymer clay bead that has been highly polished and draped with asymmetric fringe. The 2-cuts used in the netting and Peyote are very old, (from about the 1930s or 1940s I was told but cannot verify). Apparently, they came from a stash found in a warehouse in Rhode Island, The bugle beads and Swarovski bicones are contemporary as are the Czech beads (one lampwork and one textured druk) used for the bead and loop fastening and the larger 6/0 beads..

The Goddess comes wrapped in tissue and nestled in her own golden velvet lined burgandy velvet gift bag.

This is a major work and of course one of a kind. It is my entry into the Beadweaving Emporium "New Horizons" challenge.

On the Beach - Tropical Holiday Art Necklace

On the beach there is sand, shells, tropical friut (possibly with alcohol and in a wide-rimmed cocktail glass), freshwater pearls with green grasses up near the lanai where you sit under an umbrella sipping that aforementioned fruity drink, reading your favorite book...

Labradorescence - Bead woven Earrings with Labradorite Briolettes

There is something about Labradorite which completely blows my mind. Mostly it is a dull grey to smokey black mineral, but when the thickness is just right and the light glancing just right there is a shimmer of iridescence known as "labradorescence" that takes my breath away. Labradorite is the gem quality version of feldspar, a not uncommon silicate mineral containing calcium, sodium and aluminum as well as the silicate. Minerals of this type are called "plagioclase" minerals.

The briolettes featured in these earrings are perfectly facted and polished to show up this shimmering effect and to complement them I chose matte iridescent gray delicas and silvery crystal delicas also with an iridescent effect. The Balance of Chaos and Harmony - Grand Prize Winner

Have you ever seen a delicate flower caught on the silvery strands of a gossamer spider web? This necklace is the scene as depicted via the medium of the Jewelry artist's palette.

This piece was created for the International Jewelry Designer's Guild's members only design competition in 2006. Each artist was provided with the same componenets except for a unique focal bead - each created by Michigan bead artist Brea Moser of Enter the Flame studio. We were encouraged to add whatever we wished. With that remarkable lampwork flower, I knew I had a winner.

This work of art has a message and it's given by the title as well as the design itself. My addition of the two vintage (circa 1945) rhinestone shoe clips is a good example of this. They have a similar fan shape but while one is a simple set of four trapazoidal and one round stone the other is a more complex collection of multitiered chatons. The webbing is free form bead netting using silverlined crystal clear seed beads, faux (glass) pearls, and oval black glass beads. In the creation of this work of art I learned that pushing the limits is what wins the prize.

The stamen are curled coils of fine silver with a freshwater pearl. The dangling piece is a silver loop wraped in fine silver wire and seed beads. There is a hint of the orange and green in the flower all the way at the back of the necklace where those colors are once each repeated in seed beads. The whole is securely held in a beautiful drape by a ceramic creamy white with black bead for the bead and loop fastening.

Length from cream and black round bead to tip of loop is 23.5 inches / 60 cm. This can be adjusted for a smaller fit by sliding the loop back over more of the large black beads - it will hold.

But these colors make me think of early Autmnal evenings when the changing colors are rich and warm even as the temperatures are beginning to drop. The techniques used in this bead weaving are multiple variations of coraling, also known as branched fringe, including a leaf stitch with embellishment and basic coraling. The result is a wild array of several interconnected lengths and loops of fringing.

Spiral Twiat - Autumn Leaves - Bracelet

A play of warm color late in the afternoon inspired this bracelet, a pair of earrings and a necklace.

It is woven in the technique known as Ruth's Twist with a core of color lined purple beads around which spiral sparkling silver lined beads in rich orange and crisp red. This is a tight weave that results in a strong and sturdy rope, that is also lightweight and easy to wear. The fastening is a sterling silver toggle clasp.

Length Shown: 7-3/8 inches / 18.6 centimeters, but you can order any size up to 8 inches without incurring extra charges.

Red Sky

This pair of earrings are my canvas for a tiny Expressionist painting of an evening sky at the water's edge where the sun is setting in a hot red blaze. The dark cobalt blue represents the darkest part of the sky where the sun's light only barely reaches the atmosphere.

The woven beads are all contemporary Japanese seed beads, while the larger focal beads are hand facted Czech firepolished beads. They dangle from sterling silver SlipLess French earwires. I love these ear wires as they resist fallin6g out!

The weaving technique is a Russian variation of Peyote stitch. Instead of a canvas, I weave a fabric of glass.
