Peace Boutique

Austin artist Courtney Keller creates and designs from inspiration, both natural and city-inspired. The mixture of the natural and the urban shows up in the natural fibers of hemp and linen and bamboo with the element of metal, the upcycled fabrics in her collection, and the unique screen-printed designs on bags and imagery in Courtney's graphic work. Color plays a strong part across all of Courtney's work, and combined graphically with the element of type, comes together to create invitations, posters, menus, business cards and greeting cards. On fabric, color plays a beautiful part in tying together printed design with the lovely varied textures in natural fibers.

Courtney began painting and drawing as early as she began playing the piano: age 3. Her major at Kansas City Art Institute, where she is a 1998 graduate, was printmaking. In 1999, Courtney began Peace Boutique as a label to sell her bags, clothing and graphic work. She moved to Austin Texas in 2006, and relaunched a newly-designed website with more emphasis on printmaking, scaling back from clothing and focusing on design and bag creation. In 2008 and 2009, Peace Boutique was represented in several local shows and sales, including Art Is Hard, We Make Stuff, All Austin All Handmade Bazaar, and the 2009 Blue Genie Art Bazaar. Courtney begins 2010 inspired and working on new screen designs, and always interested in freelance and contract projects! check out the new Peace Boutique book, for sale now on Blurb.com!
