Wee Cairn IV in Natural Turquoise

These small Cairns are another transformation of my Cairn series. Smaller and more simply stated than the Lariat Cairns, these small stacks are just right. Throughout the ages and found in all cultures, Cairns have been used for centuries as path markers and landmarks. I like to think that these simple Cairns can serve as reminders for the wearer of all the guides and path markers that are available along the way.

These Cairns are created using really lovely natural Turquoise, a favorite of mine. On this stack the largest stone on the bottom is 13.5 x 5mm and a total of 26mm tall. It is accented with Sterling Silver spacer bead that I've customized and placed just below the Turquoise nugget at the crown.

The pendant hangs on an 16" long sterling silver ball chain with a traditional ball chain clasp.

Not-So-Wee Natural Turquoise Cairn IV

These Cairns are another transformation of my Cairn series. Smaller and more simply stated than the Lariat Cairns, yet half-again larger than my Wee-Cairns! This size Cairn was inspired by a Gloria - a customer looking for something between the two existing Cairn styles.

Throughout the ages and found in all cultures, Cairns have been used for centuries as path markers and landmarks. I like to think that these simple Cairns can serve as reminders for the wearer of all the guides and path markers that are available along the way.

These Cairns are created using really lovely natural Turquoise, a favorite of mine. On this stack the largest stone on the bottom is 22 x 8mm, the large stone just above it is 20 x 11mm and the Cairn is a total of 46mm tall including the loop at the top. It is accented with a rustic Sterling Silver spacer bead that I've customized and placed just below the Turquoise nugget at the crown.

The pendant hangs on an 20" long sterling silver ball chain with a traditional ball chain clasp.

Tibetan Mala Bead Earrings with Labradorite, Moonstone and Amethyst

These lovely stack, drop earrings are another in my Mala Bead series. The Mala bead is one of my favorite design elements. I use it, or variations of this type of bead in many designs. It just wants to be paired with other beads and appreciated. It is salvaged from the remains of an old Tibetan Prayer Mala. Prayer beads of this kind have a number of different types of inlay and these are accented with chips of coral and turquoise and each bead is 10mm x 4mm. .

In this piece below the Mala bead is an unrefined and hand faceted Moonstone rondele followed by a simple hand faceted Amethyst rondelle. The Moonstone is full of surprises with glints of color flash here and there. It is a perfect pairing with the irregularly faceted and color-filled, flashy Labradorite rondelle that sits at the top of the Mala Bead.

The earrings are 18mm in total length from the bottom of the Sterling Silver earring wire and are strung with Sterling Silver as well.

Natural Turquoise Cairn Earrings...Descending

Inverted Cairns! Energy heading to ground, planting, rooting...Inspired by Kay!

These small cairns are the latest transformation of my Cairn series and the first in earring design. Smaller, inverted, and more simply stated than the other Cairns, these small stacks are just right. Throughout the ages and found in all cultures, Cairns have been used for centuries as path markers and landmarks. I like to think that these simple Cairns can serve as reminders for the wearer of all the guides and path markers that are available along the way.

These Cairns are created using really lovely natural Turquoise, a favorite of mine. On this descending stack the largest stone at the top of the earrings is about 11 x 4mm and a total of 22mm in length as measured from the bottom of the sterling silver earring wire. It is accented with a sterling spacer I've customized and placed just above the Turquoise nugget at the bottom.

Large Wheel Natural Turquoise Cascade

These Turquoise beads are a favorite of mine and are the basis for my "Cascade" jewelry line. I love these stones ~ they are irregular, a bit unrefined, organic and natural in feel. Here, they are a layering of three descending Turquoise wheels. The stone at the top is 20mm x 6mm and the bottom stone is 13mm x 7mm at the bottom. The stones in this piece are each so unique...each so unlike the next. The pendant is 55mm in total length and is securely and solidly wrapped with a single strand of sterling silver wire.

Turquoise Cascade Necklace

These Turquoise beads are a favorite of mine and are the basis for my "Cascade" jewelry line. I love these stones ~ they are irregular, a bit unrefined, organic and natural in feel. Here, they are a layering of eight descending Turquoise round heishi and range in size from approximately 8mm x 3mm for the largest stone at the top to 6mm x 2mm at the bottom. The pendant is 42mm in length and is securely and solidly wrapped with a single strand of sterling silver wire. The squared loop at the top is slightly textured to create a beaded, or dimpled effect. I've shaped then pendant to have a slight right-arc.

The pendant hangs from an 16" sterling silver ball chain. If you'd like a different length, please let me know.

Natural Turquoise Wheel with Mala Bead Brass VI

Here, the 18 x 8mm hand carved, concave and irregular Turquoise Wheel has a complex blending of rich dark brown and green-blue turquoise. It's a lovely stone. It is paired with salvaged beaded brass that was inlaid onto a large Tibetan Mala bead. I've shaped it to serve as a bail for the stone and love the combination of the two. The total length of the pendant is 20mm. I use Mala beads often in my work and was delighted to salvage this brass that was no longer securely attached to it's round base bead. Here, the 17.5 x 8mm Turquoise Wheel has a complex blending of dark dark brown stone and Cretan blue turquoise...the blue in this stone is soft and almost glassy in appearance. It's a lovely stone. It is paired with salvaged beaded brass that was inlaid onto a large Tibetan Mala bead. I've shaped it to serve as a bail for the stone and love the combination of the two. The total length of the pendant is 23mm. I use Mala beads often in my work and was delighted to salvage this brass that was no longer securely attached to it's round base bead. Tibetan Mala Bead with Coral and Turquoise

These earrings are made using these unique Tibetan Mala Beads and are a nod to the very first pair in my line of Mala Bead designs back in April of '08! Prayer beads of this type have a number of different types of inlay and these have a thin band of brass inlay. Between the Mala beads is a flat, irregular Turquoise round. The Turquoise bead is 1/2" across. On either end of the Mala and Turquoise is a faceted Coral round. I love the symmetry of these earrings and the way the colors fit...the red, blue, brass all seems to blend really nicely together.

The earrings are 7/8" in length from the bottom of the earring wire and only Sterling Silver is used for wrapping and earring wires.

Tibetan Mala Bead Earrings with Smoky Quartz and Pearl

These earrings are another in my Mala Bead series. The Mala bead is one of my favorite design elements. I use it, or variations of this type of bead in many designs. It just wants to be paired with other beads and appreciated. It is salvaged from the remains of an old Tibetan Prayer Mala. Prayer beads of this kind have a number of different types of inlay and these have a beaded band of Brass. This bead is 12mm x 4mm. You can see how the surface of the brass has been softened, worn smooth by the many hands that have held held and caressed it, keeping count of the mantras. For me, each bead carries with it the spirit of all of those prayers.

The Mala bead is stopped by this thick, rough-cut Smoky Quartz rondelle. I love it's uneven facets and just how this stone catches the light. The earrings are topped by a simple and lovely white pearl. The blending of these elements is just perfect. The beaded brass of the mala bead seems to blend and marry the pearl and smoky quartz...

The earrings are 17mm in total length from the bottom of the Sterling Silver earring wire. They are strung with Sterling Silver as well.

Aquamarine Faceted Tri Rondelle Drop with Green Garnet and Amethyst

This pendant is a stack of some beautiful rough faceted rondelles. They seem to be able to pull off primitive and elegant all at the same time.

Each Aquamarine is a different, brilliant shade of blue with the lightest rising to the top with Green Garnet anchoring the rising blues. And the Amethyst rondelle at the bottom seems to plant the pendant perfectly.

The piece is a total of 27mm in length and is 8mm in width. It is strung on Sterling Silver and hangs from a 16" Sterling chain.

Natural Turquoise Wheel Pendant

This chunky, irregular, unusual stone is predominately Turquoise with I don't know what all mined with it! But it is lovely...Blue, green, yellow, gold, brown, amber, black. Earhty and natural, unrefined and roughly - hewn. This pendant hangs from a 17" Sterling chain with lobster clasp and Sterling ring I've customized for this piece. The stone is wrapped in Sterling silver and measures 15mm x 9mm not including the Sterling wrap and bale. This wheel is smaller than the other similar pendants I have in the shop but full of remarkable and surprising color tones.

Turquoise, Carnelian and Coral Earrings

These sweet earrings are small but full of color...my favorite blending of materials...Turquoise, Coral and Carnelian, Blue, Orange and Red. The natural Turquoise disc at the top is a lovely soft blue shade. The stone is unrefined so each is different than the next and it measures about 9mmm x 2.5mm.

The earrings are 11mm from the bottom of the Sterling Silver earwire and they are wrapped with Sterling.

Cairn XIV

This necklace is the fourteenth in my Cairn series and is inspired by some of my favorite Cairn stackers. You can read more about them here if you'd like:

These cairns are strung on two lengths of strong waxed linen cord and stacked with some of the most wonderful, rustic, unrefined, dull-finished Chinese Turquoise. The bottom element is a stack of five stones. The bottom stone in the stack is 22mm x 8mm and the entire stack is 40mm tall. You've got to see these stones to believe the range of color and complexity in them. The blues, browns, greens...each unlike any other stone in the world. Just atop the stack is a simple coil of hammered brass that I've customized for this piece.

The element above the cairn stack is a single 16mm x 6mm Turquoise bead that almost looks to be a blend of green-blue turquoise stone on top and dark black onyx beneath. So unusual... The lariat is attached between and moves easily through the two elements and the loop is created by and secured with a single length of hammered brass I've customized for this piece.

The length is 25" total for the top element and the bottom is 4" additional inches from the single element to the bottom of the cairn.

Cairn XIII

These cairns are stacked with some of the most wonderful, rustic, unrefined Chinese Turquoise. The bottom element is a stack of four colorful and complex stones. The bottom stone in the stack is 23mm x 8mm and the stone just above it is a striking Robin's egg blue with chuncks of mica and silvery glittery stone shining throughout. The two smaller stones above it are just as striking and unique. The entire stack is 35mm tall. The element above the stack is a single 18mm x 5mm beautifully complex, webbed soft blue Turquoise stone. It sits between three copper heishi beads on each side of it. The copper beads have each been customized and textured by me specifically for this piece. The lariat is attached between and moves easily through the two elements and the loop is a unique shape created with the textured copper heishi.

The length is 24" total for the top element and the bottom is 4" additional inches from the single element to the bottom of the cairn. The Cairn is strung on two strands of very strong, waxed linen.

Aventurine, Aquamarine and Amethyst Earrings

This beautiful stack features a lovely rough faceted and thick dark green Aventurine rondelle at the top followed by a textured Hill Tribe ring. Below is a soft blue Aquamarine rondelle, Moonstone heishi and small faceted Amethyst rondelle to finish the earrings. All of the stones in this piece are rough faceted and irregular, beautifully unrefined. The Sterling ring sets them off perfectly bringing out the shimmering glints of color in the Aventurine and the glittering flashes of the Moonstone.

The earrings are strung on Sterling silver and hang from Sterling ear wires. Their total length from the bottom of the ear wire is 20mm.

Carved Natural Turquoise Necklace

I love the natural Turquoise carved beads that are featured in this necklace. And the natural Turquoise heishi that surround it are amazing...they range in size from 7 - 14mm in width and are stacked in threes with a larger stone place in the center or placed as single elements with a variety of other beads and stones randomly but pleasingly placed around them.

The center pendant is a pair of Sterling wrapped carved Turquoise stones that hang from a 14mm copper tube I've created that floats over 2mm rounds of Coral, Labradorite and Carnelian at the very bottom of the necklace. The pendant is a total of 50mm in length and 26 in width at the widest point. The carved stones are convex. The Turquoise in this necklace is perfect in it's irregularity and asymmetry...exactly what I look for.

Other stones in this necklace include Carnelian, Citrine, Amethyst and Aventurine. Coral is a perfect complement to the Carnelian and the Turquoise with Sterling, Copper, Freshwater Pearl, Bone and a Tibetan Mala Bead to complete the piece. You'll also notice some custom Sterling Silver flattened spirals I've created especially for this piece. The toggle is Sterling Silver and the necklace is 19.5" in total length. The necklace is 22" in total length measuring to the bottom of the pendant.

Red Coral Cascade Pendant

Red Coral flat, irregular pebbles...The minute I laid my hands on these beads I knew right away they were destined for this Cascade design. I first created 'Cascade' while working with some natural turquoise heishi and this is an extension of that series.

This coral is smooth, flat, thin, irregular, and perfect in this grouping of four. I've wrapped them with 24 gauge half-hard sterling silver. Because the coral is light and a bit fragile I've not wrapped them as tightly as I would another stone so you'll notice a few of the beads are able to move around a little bit in the wrap.

The pendant is a total of 36mm in length. The largest pebble, the top element, is 15mm x 7mm and the bead at the bottom measures 9mm x 7mm. They are all about the same measurement in thickness, the widest being 2mm. The pendant hangs from a waxed cotton cord that and the clasp is created using a vintage mother of pearl button.
