The Red Coat is being mailed to the next artist today and I feel sad to see it go. Being a part of this wonderful project has made my heart sing! It's been like a retreat for my soul right here in my own studio. I feel refreshed and renewed by having had the fabulous opportunity to work on the beautiful red coat, but also from the interactions and bonds formed with the other artists participating in the project. Thank you to everyone who helped make this unforgettable experience possible!

I am sad, but I am also buzzing with excitement and anticipation as I watch all of the coats make their journeys from artist to artist. If you haven't discovered it yet. The traveling coats are being blogged as they travel at

I'm thrilled to be part of a Bohemia Esprit Market. In our forum for that market a fantastic project evolved and is now taking place. A group of artists from the market are collaborating on making 4 fabulous coats!

When the coats are completed we will be selling them and the proceeds will go to a charity (which we have not yet chosen). The photos above are of the beginnings of my part on one of the coats.

To follow the progress of this project check out our market blog where updates will be posted as the coats travel from artist to artist.

I will be posting photos of the coat with my part finished soon!

Had a wonderful week last week. Nothing can compare to springtime in Wisconsin! The high point of my week was Friday when my father and I spent most of the day driving randomly around the counryside west of Madison looking for interesting places to take photographs. At each intersection we chose our path based on which way looked most interesting, counting on the GPS to get us back home again later. It was very interesting to have no destination except to find scenes that sparked the muse.

My Dad has been an artist all his life doing silk screen prints, drawing casual children's portraits and also working as a graphic artist. He has the bad luck of having a very rare progressive disease that causes his eyesight to slowly become like swiss cheese - holes where he has no vision. He is no longer able to draw or paint but he hasn't given up on making art. He can see well enough to operate his camera and then he magnifies the images at home on the computer to manipulate them and create his artwork. He is a fantastic roll model for me.

In spite of a weather forecast that predicted thunderstorms all day Friday we had absolutely perfect weather for our outing, and found several excellent sites to shoot. We ended the day at a great little restaurant with some down home Wisconsin cooking in a small town nearby. Those are the kind of days that can sustain a person for weeks after they end!
