As I mentioned last week, I recently sent some of my notecards to Bandera, TX. My customer mentioned the idea of a Yee Haw card. I was immediately intrigued, and went about working on a design. I knew it needed to include a cowboy, but I also wanted to reference Texas in some way. I hit upon the idea of a Texas map within a cowboy silhouette. I did some research, looking for just the right vintage map. I found it in a book printed in the mid 1800s. The only illustration in the whole book, and it was a fragile foldout map of southern Texas. I couldn't have asked for anything better! I combined my imagery with type. As a last adjustment, I found a detailed picture of old leather, and used its texture in my typography.
Last Friday, I made quite the print run on notecards, moleskine covers, and a limited edition run of Yee Haw prints on thick cardstock. Expect to see the results in the coming weeks in my shop!
