Heron KateMy paintings are interpretations of places I have lived, of my garden which I love, and of places in my imagination that I want to share. I hope that my paintings bring joy into other peoples lives. I have been making floorcloths for over 20 years, in sizes from 2 x 3 feet up to 8 x 10 feet. I use very heavy canvas and the hems are mitered and glued. I use a Varathane Diamond floor finish after painting the design on each one. Katherine Ladd has a degree in Fine Art from the University of Cincinnati. She has shown and sold her work in Chicago, Boston, Santa Fe, and in the Triangle area of North Carolina where she now resides. She is a member of the Chatham Artists Guild and has participated in their annual Studio Tour for over 10 years. She paints with acrylics on canvas and she also has a business in which she does murals, faux finishing and floorcloths. Her work has been shown at the Cincinnati Art Museum, Elaine Horwitz Gallery and the Armory for the Arts in Santa Fe, a 2 man show in Chicago, the Arts Center in Carrboro, NC, the Chatham Arts Gallery, Side Street Gallery in Pittsboro, NC, and the Carolina Brewery. |
