Gemella Jewelry Aquamarine with Vintage Button Necklace

Description

A heavy, nicely draping piece -- this necklace features roughly faceted aquamarine nuggets which have been hand-wired together with 18k gold. The focal point is a vintage glass button that looks almost like cut steel (which it perhaps was made to resemble) which has been captured in a crocheted net of fine silver wire. Tiny blue-grey songea sapphires dot the rim of the bezel.  

New for Gemella Jewelry this season is a mix of metals incuding copper! I use pure copper in its rich rose-toned state, which has been lightly patinated for contrast and visual texture.  

The clasp is a lively mix of 18k gold, fine silver, and copper which has been twisted and wound in a characteristic hook-and-eye shape. 16.5".
