About the hat:  

This hat is designed using a combination of techniques.... needle felting , sewing and hand spinning.  

The base of the hat is a stunning copper wool/rayon felt that has been needlefelted with a handdyed blue/teal//copper/brown/cream/gold merino wool. Part pillbox hat, part fez, it definitely takes on the cultural moors of the Middle East.  

The Lock Embellishment of this hat, i.e.; the handspun, is the kicker.... i've spun in teal, blue gold, yellow fiber and locks. The Lock Embellishment has a silver plate pinback and can be worn attached to the hat or as a neck collar, or even used as a fashion accessory for other items in your wardrobe.  

This is a dramatic piece and not for those that do not wish attention. It is warm but light weight, funky but elegant.  

The overall feel of this piece is very nouveau couture.  

The hat measures 11.25" when laid flat. For reference only, the mannequin head circumference is 21". It fits me perfectly (24" head circumference with hair). To measure your head, please use a measuring tape and go around your head where you would like this hat to sit. If there is a question... please ask first, before purchasing.  

The Lock Embellishment measures approx. 23" from pinback to end of longest tendril
