This is an exquisite headpiece of hand dyed and hand felted wool, embellished with vintage art deco buttons, matching glass beads and tassel.

Azure is perfect for the woman who wishes to make a statement. Her colorway is rich in blues/greens/violets . Reminiscent of turban style hats, she has folds and ridges. Handfelted headwarmer/ear warmer in a beautiful combination of hand dyed deep blues, violets, teal, deep red and some ochre with all the subtle variations in-between... gorgeous combination. She is approx. 3.5"- 4" wide and closes with two buttons that are worked into the felted design.

She had arrived. Standing in the doorway, elegant as usual, she greeted me with the side of her cheek.

She talked of her train ride last evening and how patiently she had waited at the station. All I could think of was how the moonlight must have looked on her, glorifying this beautiful creature. I asked if she ever worried about traveling alone and she told me, "No". And in that one word I saw the appreciative glances she had gotten from every man and woman on that train.

But I knew, Simone being Simone, that she had ignored them, and stayed intent on watching her own reflection in the dark glass as she sped to see me.

About the Hat:

The main portion of the hat is a beautiful gray fleece, semi felted, shaped and then sewn into a shallow cloche.

She is trimmed with hand felted locks in white, gray and soft black. These locks are then needle felted into the base and further embellished with Czech glass beads that are sewn into clusters around the hat accentuating the locks. She is simple yet elegant, warm and soft.

Claudette also comes in a lovely winter white and a chestnut brown. Your hat will be custom made, so please allow 2 weeks. The photographs shown are an example of the hat.

This hat/wrap is a creation done with a combination of techniques.... Needle felting, sewing and hand spinning. I handspun this yarn from some beautiful handdyed yarns combining merino wool and angora locks. This is a dramatic piece that can add just the right touch to your wardrobe. It is warm but light weight, funky but elegant.

The base is an offwhite/cream wool felt accented with needle felting embellishment in a Deco, Arts & Crafts style motif down in pales greens and deep browns. The inside of the hat/wrap is luxurious deep pile tapestry of coordinating color. The overall feel of this piece is very nouveau couture.

The Lock Embellishment of this hat, i.e.; the handspun, is the kicker.... i've spun in dark brown, green and cream fiber and locks. The Lock Embellishment has a silver plate pinback and can be worn attached to the hat or as a neck collar, or even used as a fashion accessory for other items in your wardrobe.

There are red coral pieces sewn on in various places around the hat/wrap and on the tendrils. There is just a tiny smidgen, here and there of a deep brown). The overall feel of this piece is very nouveau chic.

The finest wool felt makes this Cloche lightweight and soft to the touch. The base of the hat is a black and cream/oatmeal embellished with black tulle and vintage glass button. "Junie" Hat - Cloche Series - Wearable Art with Attitude!

A 1920's Vintage adaptation, this Cloche has an incredible amount of attitude. From haughty to playful, it can be worn by anyone that is willing to take the step.

This is a summer version done in a strong 100% Cotton that is also soil/oil repellent. It is from the Martha Stewart Home collection of fabrics. It is a cream/beige/pale ocher featuring a tiny sprig and a woven pattern. It is fully lined with a fine muslin.

The side embellishment is a copper metal vintage button from my collection. This is a simple hat, reminiscent of a simpler time. Perfect for summer.

The mannequin head is 21", I have a 24" diameter and this hat fits me. Mandy Hat - Cloche Series - Wearable Art with Attitude

A 1920's Vintage adaptation, this Cloche has an incredible amount of attitude. From haughty to playful, it can be worn by anyone that is willing to take the step.

The finest wool felt makes this Cloche lightweight. The base of the hat is machine sewn while the embellishments are all added with hand-stitching. Done in a cream color (closer to oatmeal then to snow), embellished with a bronze, black, taupe and cream beauiful woven Deco pattern. The side embellishment was created by me. A black, taupe & cream fringed base, with beading in bronze and black, finished with a vintage button from my collection.

The mannequin head is 21", I have a 24" diameter and the hat fits, but is snug. I would recommend no larger than 23". If you have a question regarding the sizing, please measure your head around the largest part with a tape measure and email me with those measurements. This hat is a freeform creation done with a combination of techniques.... felting (fulling), knitting, crocheting and hand spinning. The felted portion of the hat is a blend of wool/alpaca. My handspun yarn, which embellishes the hat, was created from some beautiful handdyed rovings combining merino wool and angora locks. It gives the hat the look of wild curls.

This is a dramatic piece that can add just the right touch to your wardrobe. It is warm but light weight, funky but elegant.

The colors are charcoal grey, light and dark grey, black and off-black and white and off-white (with just a tiny smidgen, here and there of a deep brown). The overall feel of this piece is very victorian, 'steampunk-ish' and tres chic.
