Many shops aren't approved when they first apply to 1000 Markets. Here is a quick summary of the most common reasons. All of these are easy, and require just a small amount of attention.
For full details on shops and shop approval, we recommend reading the Opening a Shop on 1000 Markets blog post.
Not enough products
We require 5-7 product listings that are complete, published, and visible on your shop home page.
Poor product pictures
High resolution (600-1200 pixels across) are ideal. They should be in-focus, nicely cropped, and of consistent quality and exposure.
Blurry or poor quality portrait
The most common cause is using a portrait from another service. Our site uses a larger portrait (195 pixels square) and smaller images look bad when they are expanded to that size. We suggest either using a larger portrait image, or if you can't find one, choosing one of your product pictures and using it. We automatically scale and crop larger pictures to be the right size for your portrait.
Blurry or poor quality banner
The most common cause is using a banner from another service. Our banners are 715 pixels wide, and at most 300 pixels tall (shorter works great). If you use anything narrower than 715 pixels, it doesn't look good. If you don't have a banner of the right size, we suggest using a product image and selecting a portion of the image that looks good (using our cropping tools, available where you select a banner).
Policies are written for another site
All merchants need refund and return policies. Frequently new merchants copy policies from other sites. We accept only Amazon Payments, so mentions of PayPal aren't useful for our buyers. When you receive an order, you will have been paid, so you don't need to ask people to pay promptly.
We want your best
When we evaluate shops, we want to see examples of your best work. Please, if you are going to list items for shop approval, use your best. Browse the site to see examples from other shops and you'll get a good sense for what we are looking for.
