Porcelain Jazz

Clay has always been an exploration of possibilities for me. Right now I'm working on several series among them is one called Porcelain Jazz ( a patchwork of colored porcelain formed into a vessel, usually a bowl) from which the shop derives its name. Though not a vessel, porcelain jewelry has been a series almost since I picked up clay for the first time. Another current series is the Clay Kimono. These are wall plaques abstractly reminiscent of kimonos which tie in with personal themes especially the fact that I was born in Japan. The Canyon Wall series is a group of large platters and smaller plates that evoke the contrast of water in a dry land. (West Texas where I live is classified as semi-arid.) And of course, as a potter, I also show an eclectic grouping of functional vessels. I realize this is a pretty broad range of explorations but as one friend put it if I could find a way to knit clay I'd be making porcelain sweaters.
