Mixed media and encaustic painting on wooden art block-The Birds

Description

I did this mixed media, encaustic collage on a 5.5 x 5.5 wooden art block. The sides are stained ebony.  

I incorporated some scrim, other trim, a wooden piece and the beautiful transfer which is embedded into the wax. I used encaustic paints and medium only. No acrylics were used in this piece, so it will last forever. All it needs is a little soft rag to dust over it every now and then.  

The nature theme is carried on by the staining and roughed out look of the edges and the back of the piece, which can be displayed on a shelf, cabinet, end table or hung on the wall.
