It is so soft, and the seams are so comfortable and flat, that Ella wears hers with no undershirt, but the cut is generous enough to allow for one if you'd like.  

The wool is felted, so the occasional handwashing with wool-safe soap won't damage the shape. Lay flat to dry as you would any special handwashable item. Please do not wash this garment in a machine.
