slag necklace

Description

I've had these African powder glass trade beads for so long-- years! Just recently I found something to go with them.  

The blue pendant is slag glass-- a result of 19th century smelters on Lake Michigan's shores. On this one you can see where the barnacles were tumbled off by the lake water!  

I added Grecian copper dipped clay beads, upcycled wood beads, blue cut glass and two sterling silver textured spacers I found in Egypt.  

17 inches (44cm,) strung on professional quality beading cable and the easy to use, secure and lovely hoop clasp is handformed sterling silver.  

The whole effect is multi-cultural and earthy!
