Necklace with Hand-Sculpted Orchids and Wire-Wrapped Details, Synergy

Description

This is a one-of-a-kind necklace with miniature orchids and leaves hand-sculpted over shiny black slabs. Each slab is decorated with wire swirls and silver leaf specks covered with clear and smooth glass-like finish. Focal parts of the necklace are connected with sterling silver swirls wrapped with hair-thin wire and adorned with silver spacers, Swarovski crystals, and fresh-water pearls, which are also used to on both ends of the necklace. White miniature orchids have gentle shimmer created with tiny light-shifting particles protected with clear glaze. Finishes this necklace a wire-wrapped hand-made clasp and a piece of chain with big links that allow adjusting the necklace length for maximum comfort.  

All parts are connected so that the necklace remains flexible and comfortable to wear. Because of the materials I am using, it looks much heavier than it is in reality.  

Materials: polymer clay, resin, sterling silver and non-tarnishing silver wire, silver leaf, Swarovski crystals, fresh-water pearls.  

Dimensions: the largest bead is 3.5" x 1.5" x 0.25", the necklace is about 18" long with a 2.5" extender chain.  

Techniques: faux cloisonne, free-hand sculpting, caning, mocume gane, wire-wrapping.  

A picture of this necklace had been published in March/April 2009 issue of Polymer Cafe (an international magazine for polymer clay artists).  

The necklace will be shipped to you in a black bureau-type shadowbox with a satin cushion and a glass front window. The shadowbox contains all necessary hardware to be mounted to a wall or to be proudly displayed on your dressing table. The box has a hinged door with a magnetic lock for a convenient removal of the necklace when you want to wear it and an easy return when you want to display it.
