Our Merchants Share: What's your Goofiest Holiday Memory?

  • From Banner Mountain Textiles: My goofiest holiday memory is the doll that magically appeared from behind a huge console radio one Christmas Eve when I was about 6. Who in the world put her there?
  • From Liv'nGood Jewelry: When I was about 3 or so I received my two favorite things in my stocking: a Hershey's bar and a Dill pickle. I couldn't decide which to eat first so I alternated: bite of chocolate, bite of pickle, bite of chocolate... It sounds absolutely disgusting now, but we have a photo of me holding one in each hand with a huge grin on my face.
  • From J Stone Accessories: Just before last Halloween, my husband and his unit were deploying with the Marine Corps. We had a early costume party to celebrate Halloween and send them off with one last good time. One friend ended up wearing a piece from everyone's Halloween costume, and just looked completely ridiculous. Another male friend ended up wearing his wife's little red riding hood costume as well. It was quite entertaining, and made for more than a few good memories.
  • From Jolie Femme: I was eight and so excited about getting the BABY ALIVE DOLL! However, once I experienced the real eating and diaper changing action she had , I was out of diapers and decided to mix up and eat the powdered baby food myself. Bizzare taste!
  • From Tissage: I remember one Thanksgiving when I was in art school in France. My friend & I hosted it for a bunch of ex-pats at her apartment and the deal was that we would make the turkey and stuffing and everyone else was to bring their favorite Thanksgiving side dish. I think 12 people came and we ended up with about 8 sweet potato casseroles with marshmallow topping. Not a green vegetable in sight. And marshmallows in France are pastel colors (or at least they were when I lived there) so all these casseroles looked kind of like they were topped with Lucky Charms. It was gross at the time but it seems funny now.

There's nothing like the pop of red against winter white to make you stand out in a crowd.
