This "purple" tree began as a tree blowing in the wind. I altered its appearance to capture a spirit of tree united with water.

I love to take photographs of water, trees, horizons, flowers, people and anything of nature. I also love photographing buildings, old vehicles and architecture. Then I use layers of various textures to add to the original photograph, thus altering it's original appearance. In the end it appears more worn, decayed, vintage-like and distressed. It is in the final product that my work comes alive. My favorite elements in a finished mixed media piece are utilizing color, texture and composition to evoke emotion and feeling from the viewer. Hummingbird Garden Necklace

The sweet Hummingbird is busy gathering his nectar from the flowers. This beaded beauty sings Spring.

I made the lovely pendant base and focal beads with polymer clay. All the patterns are made by carefully blending colored clays to form the flowers and the bird. Each bead is hand formed, sanded and buffed to a glassy finish.

I beaded the pendant using glass Swarovski pearls with purple and lilac Swarovski crystals to bring out the colors in the beads. the pendant is backed with soft ultra suede for a smooth finish.

The 19 inch necklace is made with the same pearls and crystals as the pendant along with hand rolled beads. The necklace is strung on strong beading wire and is finished with Scrimps,wire guards and a crystal heart shaped toggle clasp.

This one of a kind piece of wearable art would look lovely paired with my Hummingbird Garden Ring...

2 things that say Spring to me are flowers and Hummingbirds. I love watching the birds flit around the flowers gathering their nectar.

I made the cabochon for the ring with polymer clay. The pretty flowers and the beautiful bird are not painted they are made by carefully blending different colors of clays to form the pattern. After curing I sand and buff the cabochon to a smooth glassy finish.

The beautifully carved ring base was hand made by an artisan in Israel. It is quite sturdy and will wear very well for a long time. It is adjustable and will fit a wide variety of sizes.

This is a lovely one of a kind piece of wearable art.

Sterling silver and copper chainmaille in the Barrel Weave along with five ice cube series lampwork beads measures nearly 12" long and has been antiqued and tumbled to highlight areas of the metal and show more detail.

A hand dyed silk ribbon is threaded on each end of the chain and can easily be removed for cleaning or changing to a different color or style of ribbon.

Adjustable from a tight choker size, to approximately 32" by simply tying or knotting in the back.

Medieval Queen Chainmaille and Lampwork Adjustable Necklace

The Story: As I played with the pile of chainmaille flowers, I thought of how a medieval queen might notice how beautiful the armor of her soldiers looked gleaming in the sunlight and the interesting pattern of the rings. "Maybe I can get the craftsman to create something more feminine for me to wear as jewelry" and chainmaille flowers were born.

Of course the queen would need something soft against her neck and be able to wear her necklace with any type of neckline. It would also be very important to add an amulet that resembled an eye to look out for her safety.

Each sterling silver and copper Chainmaille "Flower" was created with 37 rings-each having to be opened and closed by hand. Each flower is 1" (25mm) diameter.

A Glass Addictions bead dangles from the center flower.

Two hand dyed silk ribbons are threaded onto the necklace and can be removed if desired for cleaning or to change the look or color of the necklace. The ribbons are simply tied in the back of the neck.

Length adjusts from as tight a choker as you can tie it, all the way up to about 30" long.

The copper and silver have been left shiny.
