Lemongrass essential oil was used to make this light citrus scented soap. Olive oil, sunflower oil and flaxseed all saponified to produce this mild soap with an excellent lather.

The delicate aroma of citrus extracted from the lemongrass plant contains wonderful skin soothing properties. It is known to be antiseptic, analgesic, antifungal, antimicrobial and is used to treat various skin conditions such as skin rashes, acne and atheletes foot.

The inspiration for this product actually came from a soaping group I am a member of and from my brother-in-law. We were given the task of making a product for St. Patrick's Day and then writing a limerick about that product. Hahaha! Usually our challenges are soap related and this one was totally unique and so much fun.

I chose to make a lotion bar because they are rich in fabulous oils and butters, easier than regular lotion to take with you anywhere you go, they are compact and a highly concentrated version of a lotion.

The scent I chose is a citrus blend of Essential Oils called Sunshine Spice and it fits perfectly with the them of this challenge and depicts for me what Ireland is.

Here is my limerick:

A lad from Limerick named Liam

Was tattered and torn from the bringin’

of fish from the Shannon

he sat all day tannin’

until he was burned on his skinin.

This is a true story for sure,

His rough skin, there wasn’t a cure

His wife’s little sister

Had a cure for his blister

So she made up a lotion he could endure.

Now, he wouldn’t use nothin’ all girly

It couldn’t smell frilly and pearly

And Sue made up a bar

That came in a jar

And for sure it was manly and burly.

Now, I really do have a brother-in-law named Liam, he really is from Limerick, Ireland and his family home was next to the Shannon River.

This luscious lotion bar ingredients include Candelilla Wax, Shea Butter, Mango Butter, Castor Jelly, Kukui Nut Oil, Meadowfoam Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, Evening Primrose Oil and Vitamin E (Tocopherol) and Essential Oil Blend.

Each 2+ ounce lotion bar is individually wrapped and placed in a 4 oz jar for safe keeping.

This exquisite handmade tea set includes the teapot and teacup. I made this set on my pottery wheel out of porcelain clay, handbuilding the spout and overhead handle.

The glazing was a fun part of this creation, too. I used glossy white, red and black glazes and then trailed some dots on the contrasting glazes.

Note the knob on the lid --- it is actually a lampwork bead made by etsy artist Gaialai. You can see more of her work at http://www.gaialai.etsy.com

This teapot will hold 28 oz of tea and the teacup holds around 4 oz. The teapot is 8" high x 9" handle to spout and 5" side to side.

It's a really exquisite, original, and striking set. And it pours really well!

The creamer will hold 12 oz and the sugar bowl will hold a cup. The sugar bowl comes with a matching spoon and works well as a pot for hold your favorite jam, jelly, chutney or other favorite topping! It also works well as a salt cellar that you can keep on your food prep area for easy access.

I made the creamer and sugar bowl on my pottery wheel out of porcelain clay and handbuilt the matching spoon and tray they sit on. The colorful glass knob on the top of the lid is a lampwork bead made by talented etsy artist Gaialai. You can see more of her work at http://www.gaialai.etsy.com

I used a variety of glazes and pottery stains to create the colorful, whimsical design and to complement the colorful glass knob..

The creamer measures 6" x 6" x 4" and the sugar bowl is 4.5" high x 3.5" across. The tray is 12" long x 5" deep.

Dishwasher safe (except for the lid which I would hand wash due to the glass knob.)
