ACEO Santa Monica Pier Ferris Wheel Metallic photo art card

This is an art photograph of the beautiful ferris wheel on the Santa Monica, California pier that I have made into an ACEO art trading card. I took it on a recent trip to the pier.

This photograph is printed professionally on Kodak Metallic Endura paper that has color that is guarenteed to last 100 years. It is mounted on durable 145 lb watercolor paper. It is signed and dated by the photographer.

This photo can be made into ANY SIZE PHOTOGRAPHIC PRINT, 5x6, 8x10, 11x14, a blank photo greeting card ,or a photo pendant, just lmk. There are two verisons on this photo just lmk which one you would like when you purchase.

ACEO stands for 'Art Cards, Editions and Originals'. They are collectible miniature artworks that can be created in any variety of media - originals or prints. The main rule is that they measure 3.5 x 2.5 inches. They are small, low cost examples of artists' work so this allows people to collect a variety of different types of art. You can put them in a photo album on your living room table , frame them or leave them in a basket for everyone to enjoy.

I painted this original watercolor from a picture I took on a clear day in February. What a view I have!!!

This is Mt. Hood in Oregon.

I painted it with artist quality paints (using only 3 colors - crimson, blue and yellow) on 140 lb watercolor paper.

This little original painting is an ACEO. ACEO's always measure 2.5"x3.5" - the size of a trading card. They are many ACEO collectors who keep their little pieces of artwork in a book with trading card pockets. Others mat and frame these wonderful pieces of art. Either way, it's a fun and inexpensive way to own a lot of original artwork!

It is initialed on the front and signed on the back, and delivered in a plastic sleeve.

This ACEO is titled "Lemon-Lime" and was painted using artist quality paints on 140 lb artist quality watercolor paper.

An interesting tidbit about this artwork... I challenged myself to use only 3 colors to create it. I've included a picture that shows it before it's been trimmed with the color swatches - the three colors I mixed and some of the mixes.

This ACEO will be initialed on the front and signed on the back. It is delivered in a plastic sleeve .

All of the works were inspired by her dreams or visions. On the back of each ACEO is a copy of the dream or vision that inspired the work.

Sacred Butterfly

A few days after my first “Hanble Ceya” (ceremonial fast known as Vision Quest) I woke just before sunrise feeling something on my toes. I looked toward my feet and saw a very small being with wings fluttering around them. This creature appeared very real and I bolted upright in bed. This fast movement made it disappear from my sight. I thought I had gone crazy or maybe I was delusional...why was I seeing a fairy person?

The next morning I called a friend who was a traditional woman trained in healing and ceremonies. I told her what happened and she said this was very good. She further explained that the fairy people are called Kimimila Wakan in Lakota meaning Sacred Butterflies. They are known to be helpers for dancers and that I would probably become a dancer.

It was several years later when I had the “dancers dream”. In the dream all of my beadwork and regalia had symbols of butterflies. As is tradition, I told no one of my dream, but within a few days one of my elder relatives came to the house and gave me a pair of moccasins. She said she had a dream that I was dancing. These moccasins had symbols of the butterfly all around the edges! Throughout the years I danced in many powwows and experienced occasions where the the fairy people or sacred butterflies helped me to dance my best.

It is believed when we observe the butterfly it enhances and heals our connection with humanity. We are reminded by the butterfly’s beauty and delicacy that life can be fragile and to be mindful of what is precious and important in life. To treat everyone with beautiful thoughts and and to treasure all whom we know.

The butterfly is capable of changing its entire genetic code during the process of transformation. This fact gives us great hope when times are difficult or we have physical ailments; we can remember the Butterfly and be encouraged that even tremendous change is possible. As with the butterfly, we are not what we were when we first came into this body and tomorrow we will not be the same as we are today

Artist: Paula Bidwell of Native Talisman Art is an American Indian artist, jeweler and author. She is also considered an Indigenous Healer and spent many years on the reservation learning traditional healing and ceremony. She combines being an artist and indigenous healer into her art. Paula believes strongly that we are all related and there is very little separation between us. Her art resonates with all cultures and peoples.
